Steven Rogers, born in Brooklyn, New York in 1918, was a frail young man deemed unfit for military service during World War II. Determined to serve his country, he volunteered for a top-secret U.S. Army program.

Rogers was selected for Project Rebirth, an experimental program aimed at creating super-soldiers. He was injected with the Super-Soldier Serum and bombarded with "vita-rays," transforming him into the physically perfect specimen, Captain America.

Endowed with peak human strength, agility, and endurance, Captain America became a symbol of hope and inspiration for American troops. He fought valiantly against the Nazi regime and its offshoot, HYDRA, led by the Red Skull.

During a mission to stop the Red Skull's devastating weapons, Captain America crashed his plane into the Arctic, preserving himself in ice. Decades later, he was discovered and revived by S.H.I.E.L.D., reawakening to a vastly changed world.
